Service Activities
Cork Recycling
Why?
- It takes 43 years to grow a wine cork and just seconds for it to become environmental junk.
- NSW receives $1.25 for each kilo of corks recycled.
- Click here for more information.
How?
- Collect them from your friends.
- Ask your local restaurant, hotel, clubs to help. Collect from them regularly and reliably at an agreed time.
- Give them to your District Leader who will bring the to the Region Centre, or bring them to the Region Centre yourself.
- The corks are then taken to Guides NSW in Surry Hills.
- The Region Cork Co-ordinator is Lesley Walton. Please contact Lesley for cork collection and drop-offs.
- Our thanks to Qantas and its passengers, who provide 66 kg of corks every 3 months!
- Our thanks also go to The Body Shop which collects corks locally at the Miranda store.
